Coronavirus: 204 fresh cases confirmed

Fresh COVID-19 positive cases were identified in Sri Lanka as the total number of cases reported from the Minuwangoda and Peliyagoda clusters reached 16,847.

The Department of Government Information said 204 more persons were tested positive for the virus.

All the new cases are associates of the Peliyagoda Fish Market cluster, reports confirmed.

With the new development, Sri Lanka has confirmed 20,375 novel coronavirus infections to date.

According to the Health Ministry’s data, 14,497 of the confirmed patients have made complete recoveries from the virus.

The Epidemiology Unit says 5,791 active cases are still receiving medical treatment at selected hospitals across the island.

The death toll meanwhile went up to 87 earlier today, as four more patients fell victim to the virus.
